EX-OFFICIO BOARD MEMBER ELECTIONS



TSCA is seeking two ex-officio board members to join our organization:

    • The Administrator Liaison position is designed for a principal, assistant principal, or dean of students who is passionate about supporting and advancing the school counseling profession.
    • The New Practitioner Liaison position is intended for a graduate student, job-embedded counselor, or recent graduate of a master’s-level school counseling program who is looking to grow as a leader and expand their professional network.

June 8-19 Voting
July 1, 2026 New Directors Take Office

Eligibility

ADMINISTRATOR LIAISON

To be considered for the Administrator Liaison position,  candidates must:

  • Be currently employed full-time as a principal, assistant principal, or dean of students in a Tennessee school.
  • Maintain a TSCA membership throughout their term of service. NOTE: membership is not required to apply for the Administrator Liaison position.
  • Submit a completed application by June 5.

NEW PRACTITIONER LIAISON

To be considered for the New Practitioner Liaison position, candidates must:

  • Be currently enrolled in a master’s program in school counseling, serving as a job-embedded school counselor, or a recent graduate of a master’s program in school counseling seeking employment.
  • Be a student member of TSCA and maintain membership throughout their term of service.
  • Be a student member of the American School Counselor Association and maintain membership throughout their term of service.
  • Submit a completed application by June 5.


BOARD MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES

Members of the TSCA Board of Directors are responsible for determining the overall direction of the organization, ensuring the organization does what it needs on behalf of its members and avoids what it shouldn’t do based on ASCA Ethical Standards and Position Statements. Board members are expected to be knowledgeable about ASCA’s standards and positions. Board members are responsible for the governance function of the organization, including the creation of TSCA bylaws, establishing policies, monitoring compliance with the policies, establishing linkages with TSCA members and completing all tasks necessary to meet these responsibilities. 


HOW WORK IS PERFORMED

Most board member responsibilities can be performed online and by phone/text. Aside from meetings (see below), Board members carry out their duties at times that work for their schedule. 


MEETINGS

To accomplish the responsibilities outlined above, the TSCA board meets monthly via Zoom. Board members are expected to attend these meetings.

  • Experiences or accomplishments in school counseling not listed in the sections above
  • Other boards and committees you have served on outside of ASCA, TSCA, your school, or your district
